My Observation Of My Observational Assignment - 909 Words

For my observational assignment I chose the first option which was to observe children or adolescents. The two children that I observed were about three years old. It was one male and one female. The children were playing with each other in a play area at a shopping mall. The two children would spend a few minutes engaged in the same activity, but then would break up to play individually. The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed to be extremely out going. She did not appear to be afraid of anything. The little girl was very loud, and bold, and made her presence known. It also seemed as though she would run away from her mother, rather than sticking close by as instructed to. The little boy on the other hand seemed to be quite the opposite. He seemed a little bit more reserved, maybe even shy. The little girl seemed a bit bossy instructing the boy on what to do. I noticed that when she demonstrated this behavior, it prompted the separation and th ey played individually. This however only lasted a few moments and the children were back to playing with one another. I did notice that after some time the little boy seemed to loosen up his shyness and begin to act more outgoing like the little girl. This leads me to believe that his behavior is influenced more so by his environment than his genetics.
